The Acupuncture and Therapeutic Massage Center was established in 1999 primarily offering medical massage and acupuncture with complimentary modalities to enhance structural healing of the body and treat illness and injury. In an effort to meet the Midcoast area's growing needs, we were able to design and build our new office space which opened in 2006 and allowed room for three more practitioners to join our practice. Our goal is to continue to grow and to educate the public of our belief that bodywork is not just a luxury, it is a necessary ingredient towards a healthy lifestyle. Touch is the body's instinctual response to pain and stress. For centuries, cultures around the world have recognized the therapeutic power of touch and utilized massage, acupuncture, and other techniques as natural healing tools. Besides relaxing the body and mind, bodywork stimulates positive physiological and psychological effects helping us to maintain good health and achieve optimal performance. |

I have been practicing Acupunture since 2000. Previously I was an elementary school teacher for 25 years. I have also taught real estate courses at the university. I originally decided to explore Acupuncture, when an acupuncturist told me that it could help children with ADHD. I really did not believe this, but as an educator, I thought it was my duty to explore this avenue. I attended acupunture school in Hawaii, with the belief that if it didn't work, I could improve my tennis game and learn how to surf. Needless to say, I saw and experienced many wonderful things that I was able to bring back to my practice in Maine. |
